Why
am I being charged three different fees for sewer?
Each
charge is for a different item. The residential sewer
charge is for the District to remove the sewage away from
your home. The Metro charge is for King County Metro to
treat and dispose of the sewage. You will find these two
items on the bill you receive from the District. King
County Metro also charges a sewer capacity charge for
any home built after 1990. The purpose of the sewer capacity
charge is to pay for building sewage treatment capacity
to serve newly connected customers. The capacity charge
ensures that all customers pay their share of the cost
of capital improvements to provide them with sewage treatment
service. You will receive a separate bill from King County
for the sewer capacity charge. Questions about the sewer

Where
is my meter located?
Most
meters are located on the front of your property in a
box in the ground, usually on a property corner or the
property frontage. (For more meter information see "Your
Meter" on the "Customer Service" page.

Where
is the main shut-off (master) valve to my home?
Generally
main shut-off or master valves are located where the water
supply line enters your home, or near the hot water heater.
It is a good idea to locate the shut-off valve in case
you need to shut off your water supply in an emergency.
Once you find your valve, mark it with a tag, a bright
ribbon or colorful paint so you can find it quickly.

Why
do I get two bills from two different water and sewer
districts?
If
you live in the north end of the District, your sewer
service is billed through the Northeast Sammamish Sewer
and Water District, and we bill you for the water service.
The sewer lines for Northeast Sammamish Sewer and Water
District overlap our District boundaries in this area.
Please remember that we are two different districts when
paying your bills and look carefully at your bill to ensure
that it is being sent to the appropriate agency.

Can
I pay my bill over the phone?
At
this time, we do not have the ability to take credit cards
over the phone. You can make a payment in our office or
mail it to us. We now have Auto-pay available if you wish
to have your bills withdrawn directly from your checking
or savings account. Please call the office for further
information.

Do
we hard or soft water?
Water
supplied by the District is medium hard.

Will
the District repair my leaks?
The
District is responsible for repairing leaks in the water
mains and service lines from the main to the meter, including
the meter and meter setter. Any leaks that occur at and
after the plumbing connection to the meter setter are
the homeowner's responsibility to repair.
