Frequently Asked Questions

How do I report street light outages?

Street light outages need to be reported to Puget Sound Energy. You can report the outage online by clicking on the following link: http://www.intolight.com/lightsout.html

Will the District repair my leaks?

The District is responsible for repairing leaks in the water mains and service lines from the main to the meter, including the meter and meter setter. Any leaks that occur at and after the plumbing connection to the meter setter are the homeowner's responsibility to repair.

Why do I get two bills from two different water and sewer districts?

If you live in the north end of the District, your sewer service is billed through the Northeast Sammamish Sewer and Water District, and we bill you for the water service. The sewer lines for Northeast Sammamish Sewer and Water District overlap our District boundaries in this area. Please remember that we are two different districts when paying your bills and look carefully at your bill to ensure that it is being sent to the appropriate agency.

Do we hard or soft water?

Water supplied by the District is medium-hard.

Why am I being charged three different fees for sewer?

Each charge is for a different item. The residential sewer charge is for the District to remove the sewage away from your home. The Metro charge is for King County Metro to treat and dispose of the sewage. You will find these two items on the bill you receive from the District. King County Metro also charges a sewer capacity charge for any home built after 1990. The purpose of the sewer capacity charge is to pay for building sewage treatment capacity to serve newly connected customers. The capacity charge ensures that all customers pay their share of the cost of capital improvements to provide them with sewage treatment service. You will receive a separate bill from King County for the sewer capacity charge. Questions about the sewer capacity charge should be addressed to King County at 206-296-1450 or email them at CapChargeEscrow@kingcounty.gov.
